THE SIRE LINE: Clannad Maestro is 16:3hh grey, foaled 1989 and is officially classed as a full Irish Draught, but actually has about 1/8th Thoroughbred blood, which has given him quite a bit of quality. He competed Eventing, winning a few and he was 2nd in the Hunter class at Hay and Kingston and 3rd at the Midlands In hand Sports horse class and qualified for the Riding Club championships as an indivifual as a six year old. Sadly a stress fracture ended his competitive career. One of his youngsters was noted as "one of the best moving Draughts she had seen".By Jennie Lorriston Clarke. |
Clannad Maestro is from a rare Irish Draught line, as he is by Merry Gold who goes back to Laughton and Lahinch, grandsire of Badminton Winner Haughton's point. On the Dam side he goes back to the very well know Prince of Shaunlara. The Grade A jumping stallion Amber Glen (pictured right) is also by Merry Gold. |

Dam of Clannad Maestro is Clannad Bess, a 15.1hh graded grey mare. Producer of show champions, Polaris (show Cob) by Silver Jasper, Vega (show Cob) by Timahoe Heather, Clannad Chance Desire (Champion in-hand) by Colman, Clannad Maestro (NTR Performance Stallion) by Merrygold and dam of our Foundation Stallion "Blue Gray Perhaps". Has given us Blue Henry's successors Blue Max, a striking colt like a chip off the old block and Blue Horizon. A lovely brood mare that can really move, and this she passes to her offspring. |

Sire of Clannad Bess: ENNISKEANE PRINCE: RID (life approved) is the only pure bred Irish Draught stallion listed three times in the top 20 listings with British Database having progeny winning with British Dressage and BSJA. A prolific sire of performance horses that have inherited his outstanding movement, atletic ability and temperament. Also sire of Millbrook Esquire (International Grade A Show Jumper) an exceptionally talented stallion who, with Lynne Bevan, has achieved numerous successes. He has excellent conformation, movement and temperament. He still holds the record for the highest recorded N.A.S.T.A performance test 1995 earning Elite status. He has qualified for finals at Hickstead and Royal Windsor. He has also been awarded the BSJA silver stallion disc. |
The dam of Enniskeane prince is Enniskeane Countess, a full Irish Draught mare born in 1961, became the champion mare of 1967. This mare was then able to establish a breeding and performance dynasty, which few mares can match. With only a partial pedigree of her available we are still able to locate the source of maternal power in her lineage.
With 50% of her pedigree "unknown", what remains is still powerful for great filly factors and broodmare success. Studying Warmblood or Sport Horse pedigrees can be difficult because often the mare line is incomplete or a mare might be named but not breed identified. With only half her pedigree visible, this mare still has plenty of potent punch. Enniskeane Countess carries three different lines of Woodranger, an old and highly successful Irish line, a proven producer of quality horses and great broodmares. Two of Woodranger's daughters are here: Maud Allen and Woodranger Mare. Glen Lad the sire of Enniskeane Countess, is linebred x3 to Woodranger Mare through a son: All Moonshine and two daughters: Molly Grey and Plover. This is a powerful filly factor and a rare thing to see in Irish horses. Yet, even with such a partial lineage there is this extraordinary filly factor in the Woodranger Mare lines. The dam side enlarges on this by bringing in a sister to Woodranger Mare: Maud Allen. Enniskeane Countess carries another very potent maternal duplication with the Young Arthur II lines in her sire Glen Lad being both by daughters: Molly Grey and Dandy. This is surely one of the reasons Glen Lad himself was successful as a sire. Good stallions need filly factors. |
Enniskeane Countess (pictured to right) produced two good stallion sons: Enniskeane Prince, a show jumper and good sire, and his full brother Enniskeane Pride. Her greatest fame however, comes through her daughter: Kildalton Countess, who by building on her dam's strong genetic base became one of the greatest foundation mares in the Irish breed. |

RID PRIDE OF SHAUNLARA1969, Grey Irish Draught stallion, IDHS Reg RID 636. Pride Of Shaunlara was very influential on the modern day Irish Draught he is one of the 3 common lines seen today found throughout nearly all Irish Draughts. A champion himself and sire of many champions too numerous to mention. Pride Of Shaunlara is the sire of many well known RID stallions: Pride Of Toames, King Elvis, Enniskeanne Pride, Enniskeanne Prince, Finbar, Suma's Murphy's Law and many others. |
| The Dam line is from the great Thoroughbred stallion Tudor Treasure, a very successful stallion who produced many exceptional progeny some of whom became successful stallions in their own right. |
