A BUSY DECADE FOR GREENVALE STUD AT TY LLWYD STABLES Located near Carmarthen, it was established in 1998 by Marnie Venables. After finding the ideal premises and studying for her Equine Science HNC she set to work to attain her dreams of producing world class, British bred horses. The stud itself

or hedged. As you would expect all the horses are cared
for with 5 star treatment and are under 24-hour supervision. The Greenvale Stud all started with the Welsh Cob stallion Yorkin Napoleon, since sold on to Yorkshire and the (Cardigan bred) Thoroughbred stallion, Time Willing. “He was a very lucky find for me in 2000, as his parentage includes two of the Racing greats, The Brianstan and Teenoso (Derby winner). He has proved to be a wonderful stock stamper, and is the most perfect gentleman”. The next 2 years were spent selecting brood mares and the (locally bred) coloured stallion, Alderfarn VII, by Elvis the great coloured Trakehner. “I felt there was a shortage of quality coloured stallions at the time that were of lighter bone and proven performance breeding.” His first progeny were born in May 2005, and amongst these were the nationally famous coloured twins Greenvale Double trouble I & II. 2004 heralded a concentration on improving stock and bloodlines including the selecting in Holland and Belgium of mares and youngstock. Most importantly: acquiring the show jumping stallions, Dick Z and Holsteiner, Corravale. “I was so lucky to find such outstanding stallions; there is a shortage of Show jumping lines, especially in Wales. Dick Z was bred by Paul Schockemohle, Zangersheide stud and had been there and done it, he was already graded with the Anglo European Studbook. He is still one of only a few stallions that can boast the "Z" brand in the UK. Corravale is by the worlds leading show jumping stallion Coriano and is proving to be an absolute talent over a fence.” |

2005 saw the purchase of the black Hanoverian, Escobar by the great Escudo I. “It has always been my dream to own a beautiful black stallion that oozes presence and raw talent; and he is most definitely all that! He is being brought on slowly at the Stud, too good to rush, I am very excited for his future”. Greenvale Audacity was also purchased, a Coloured Colt by Alderfarn VII out of a very successful graded Trakehner and BWB mare. He is only 3 this year and will be produced and stood at stud in Yorkshire. Now after 10 years hard work: many successful horses by the Greenvale stud stallions are now hitting the circuit. Dick Z has successful progeny in USA, Europe and the UK and Corravale produced the overall yearling champion in the futurity breeder’s scheme 2007, the aptly named, Lucky for some. The stud is now starting 2008 with its latest edition the Palomino Sports pony and multi championship winning stallion, Legend Phantom star standing for his first season. The season ahead is looking busy and hopefully filled with many more success stories. Not only do we specialise in breeding competition horses, we also specialise in training young and problem horses, and offer a very flexible livery service for clients. However do note stud duties do take priority and free stables are rare so book early to avoid disappointment. For livery price lists - CLICK HERE .
